April 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Leading chilled food distributor Freshlinc has signed a six-year tracking contract with Isotrak, replacing incumbent providers Navman and Masternaut, to boost the efficiency of its refrigerated delivery fleet and provide its customers with real-time visibility of the work being done for them.

Isotrak is already installing tracking units on 120 trailers as a direct replacement for existing Navman units, and on another 65 trailers that are new to the fleet and not currently tracked. Roll-out is due to be completed towards the end of April.

ATMS, delivered as a browser-accessible hosted „managed service‟, combines the latest satellite tracking technology with intelligent transport management applications to deliver real-time visibility and measurement of both whole-fleet and individual-vehicle location and execution. Ultimately ATMS will help Freshlinc achieve a single, unified view of its fleet operations, by tracking and measuring the performance of all 185 trailers.

Trefor Evans, General Manager at Freshlinc, commented: “Our decision to switch to Isotrak was brought about by an extremely strong operational and commercial proposal. This showed us that, while it‟s important to make the right choice of tracking hardware, it‟s more important to interpret tracking data strategically in the context of effective key performance indicators (KPIs).

Uniquely, Isotrak, using 3iS is able to automatically provide our customers with visibility of the work we do for them. With the new system we will ensure that we keep delivering the highest levels of customer service at the minimum cost and with the lowest carbon emissions.

“Tracking providers may come and go, but in Isotrak we‟ve found a true long-term strategic partner which understands our business and has the ability to keep pace with our developments both now and in the future. That‟s just one of the reasons we were happy to sign a six-year contract.”

Freshlinc transports over 1.7 million pallets of chilled and fresh produce per year, delivering into the major retailers. Reduced carbon emissions are high on the agenda for organisations such as these, and so too for Freshlinc. The company recently reduced the top speed of its vehicles to 54mph to save fuel and reduce emissions. Now it will make further savings by running fewer and friendlier miles, acting on the insights that ATMS provides.

Craig Sears-Black, Sales & Marketing Director at Isotrak adds: “We are glad that Freshlinc shares our vision of transforming transport efficiency through the strategic deployment of technology. They will be an important part of the 3iS Club, the transport industry‟s first collaboration concept, which allows vehicles from many fleets to collaborate as one, with full autonomy to deliver further revolutionary efficiency improvements.”
