April 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Have you ever dreamed of going to a country where a unique mix of different languages and a combining of cultures surround you? Maybe you want to experience a country that has not only had a rich political history but is still creating history today. Or, perhaps you’re interested in exploring and learning more about world religions such as Buddhism or Hindi. Or it could be that you are the more adventurous type and dream about hiking in the Himalayas and seeing the world’s largest mountain, Mount Everest. In the diverse and exciting country of Nepal these are just some of the experiences you can have while also helping improve the lives of others!

Because of Nepal’s current government, many average citizens are not getting the healthcare, education and overall quality of life that they deserve. With the help of volunteers like you, we can help those who live beneath the poverty live, those living on less than $1.25 per day, improve their living conditions.

Volunteering in Nepal combines the opportunity to help others with exploring and understanding a new country and culture! By combining your passions with helping other people, volunteering overseas becomes an exciting and rewarding experience! There are many different and unique volunteers programs in Nepal to get involved in. Some include:

•   Teaching English- Many colleges throughout the world prefer students to speak English, the language that is quickly becoming the world standard. By teaching a child to read and write you are paving a road for great opportunities later on in life and giving them a chance to take hold of their own futures as you encourage them to aim high and go far!

•   Improving Health Standards- Many people around the world don’t have clean water to drink or get the medical help they deserve. Whether you are digging a well in a village or helping to provide vaccines to children, anything you do when volunteering in Nepal helps. Medical students are encouraged to help learn new skills and experience new situations as they work towards creating better health standards for the people of Nepal.

•   Community Maintenance – Many rural communities throughout Nepal lack basic buildings and community maintenance. As a volunteer, you may be involved in building a school for children to learn or improving roads to help ease travel. An exciting, hands-on volunteer opportunity like this is great for any one going into construction or engineering or someone who just likes to be active!

These are just a few of the programs you can get involved in while volunteering in Nepal. With some of the volunteer programs in Nepal you have the opportunity to live with a host family. When living with a host family you have the opportunity to be completely immersed in the culture and language in a way that would not happen if you stayed in a hostel. So, take up the challenge today and start researching volunteer programs to help the less fortunate in Nepal!
