The 87th Inter-college sports event starts in Tonga

April 8, 2010 - PRLog -- This year's Inter college sports event was launched in Tonga's Teufaiva Outdoor Stadium with hundreds of young athletes expected to participate in the event. This is a three day event composed of various events like long jump, high jump, 1500 meter dash, shot put and more. This event gets a good participation from both boys and girls. Some popular schools which participate in the event are Tupou High School, Tailulu College, Tonga College, Takuilau College, Queen Salote College, Liahona High School and many which we missed.

These events are not only a great entertainment source for the entire student community but also brings a much needed break from the daily events. Inter College sports happen every year and they divided into different grade depends on the age. 'Its a day of joy and show your color and how supportive but most importantly the spirit of sports.

The Tongan  economy's base is agriculture, which contributes 30% to GDP. Squash, coconuts, bananas, and vanilla  beans are the main crops, and agricultural exports make up two-thirds of total exports.  All land is essentially owned by the Tongan monarchy, but large estates have been divided among the country’s nobles.

The more than 150 islands constitute three main groups: Tongatapu (seat of the capital) in the south, Vavau in the north, and Haapai in the center.
