Cranberry Highlands Golf Course in Cranberry Township, PA "Mows Green"

Cranberry Highlands Golf Course took delivery of two Jacobsen Hybrid Eclipse 322 Triplex mowers this week, becoming the first municipal golf course in Western PA to "mow green".

April 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Krigger & Company, Inc. delivered two Jacobsen Hybrid Eclipse 322 Triplex mowers to Cranberry Highlands Golf Course, a municipal course in Western PA.    Cranberry Highlands GC has also purchased several walking Hybrid Eclipse 122F mowers.   Dave Barber, Superintendent, was excited by the features and control that these mowers provide him and can't wait until Jacobsen does this with their fairway mowers.  Officials from Cranberry Township are excited that there will be no hydraulics on the greens.

Dave purchased the Gas Hybrid version of the Eclipse 322s. In the hybrid version, internal combustion engines are linked to a 48-volt 5.8 kW continuous generator, which provides electric current to power the traction motor and the reel drives.

These hybrid Eclipses will reduce fuel costs because they do not have large engines powering big hydraulic pumps; all they are doing is providing power to a genset to create the current to drive the relevant traction and reel motors.  It is estimated that these hybrids reduce fuel use up to 180 gallons a year, produce 18 gallons less waste oil and can save up to 35% on operating costs.

The only concern at Cranberry Highlands seems to be that the Operators will get spoiled and not want to run the other equipment.
