Cross-Cultural Communications Expert to Speak at International Trade Export Training Seminar

The International Trade Center’s award winning Global Market Series-Export Training welcomes expert Edward Retta, MACM, of Cross Culture Communications to speak on topics regarding International Cultural Communications on April 29th.

April 28, 2010 - PRLog -- The Global Market Series-Export Certification, an award winning seven part series presented by industry experts and certified by the U.S. Department of Commerce, will be available by webinar/seminar and will feature Edward Retta, MACM, of  Cross Culture Communications.  He will be speaking April 29th on topics regarding cultural communications in international business. Attendees can participate in person or via webinar.  

Edward Retta is one of a new class of professionals for the global age called Interculturalists. Over 25 years he has worked in 45 countries. During eight years with a British NGO, he designed cross-cultural training for staff from 60 nations. A globalist of Mexican heritage, Retta specializes in cross cultural competencies. Since 1978, he has worked in Latin America, Europe and Africa.

Retta speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish. He has done cross-cultural and global diversity training for major international companies and many non-profits. Retta traveled throughout the Arabian Gulf, days before the war in Iraq to support humanitarian efforts in the region. He recently spoke in the national forum, The People Speak: America Debates its Role in the World, sponsored by the Rockefeller Fund and the United Nations Foundation, supporting “grassroots community involvement in foreign policy.”

Retta has published many articles on global diversity and cultural best practices. He has been International and Cultural Advisor for the Hispanic Journal and Director for South America for Business Horizons magazine.  Edward is currently co-authoring a series about cross- cultural management for HR professionals.

A frequent guest lecturer, Retta has taught intercultural management at universities in the USA, Europe, Africa and South America. In Germany, at Katholische Universität, he teaches Cross Cultural Marketing. His course is ranked as one of the top 5. Educated in the USA and in the UK, he earned a BSc. in Psychology and Management from Texas A&M and an honors MA in Cross-Cultural Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. At the DTS, Retta mentored small groups in the Spiritual Formation projects. He completed thesis research at Oxford University in England, and the by -invitation, International Leadership School of Operation Mobilization in Wales. He earned the Certificate in International Assignments from the ERC.

The full Export Certificate Program seminar series covers the steps in the export process with a strong emphasis on compliance. The Export Certificate Program welcomes other leading industry experts on related topics including: identifying public resources available to assist in country research and financing; learning the government agencies role in export procedures & mandatory compliance requirements regarding such topics as licensing and recordkeeping requirements and penalties, how to complete the required AES (Automated Export System), EEI (Electronic Export Information) and becoming familiar with non U.S. regulations and compulsory marks, the CE Mark and CCC; the basics of international payment procedures; and how to work with your freight forwarder to navigate the logistics and documentation maze.

The complete Export Session Series dates are April 15, 22 and 29, 2010.  
Morning Sessions: 8:00am-10:00am & 10:30am-noon.
Afternoon Session: 1:00-2:30 pm.
