April 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Razoo.com, an innovative e-philanthropy marketplace connecting nonprofits, fundraisers, and donors, is set to beat its previous March Goodness Tournament results as this year’s competition heats up. The Final Four nonprofit organization in this year’s tournament may each support a different cause, but as the competition draws to a close this week, they are united by their goal to win this year’s grand prize of $10,000.

In 2009, Razoo.com launched March Goodness, an online giving competition inspired by college basketball’s March Madness tournament.  In its first year, Razoo’s March Goodness competition successfully raised more than $162k for participating nonprofits by highlighting their causes and stories while inspiring thousands of individuals to engage in the online giving experience.  This year the stakes are even higher: the total prize pot is more than $6,000 higher than last year and more than $214k has already been raised, breaking last year’s level of giving.

For the 4 nonprofits in the final round of the competition this year, there is still a last-day push to spread the word about their cause and to engage existing and potential new donors in their efforts.  As the tournament races towards its finish at midnight (Eastern time) on April 6th, MinnPost and endPoverty.org are in the lead, vying for the top position. MinnPost, for example, shared that they would be calling on their top donors to secure the lead. But donations can come in at the last minute, which still gives Helping Paws of Minnesota and the Akilah Institute for Women a chance to come from behind and win the tournament. Collectively, these finalists, through their outreach, fundraising, and inspiring stories on Razoo.com have raised more than $45k in just the last 3 days of the competition, fueling the spirit of giving in their communities and across the country.

As the clock is winding down it has been a flurry of dedicated volunteers on the phone, messages being sent and posted on the web, and friends calling on each other for support for a cause they believe in the most. These last couple hours of madness will tell who will become our next March Goodness Tournament Champion.
