Extreme Canines Dog Show Takes Stage at Conejo Valley Days
Thousand Oaks will soon go to the dogs as the "Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show" comes to town and performs at the 54th Annual Conejo Valley Days (Conejo Creek Park South, 23 Freeway at the Janss Rd. exit, Thousand Oaks).
Show times are 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the Fiesta Stage on Saturday, May 1. The shows are free with CVD admission. "CVD featured a dog show several years ago and we've been asked ever since to bring them back," says Kevin Rock, CVD entertainment chair. "The agility and smarts of these dogs are remarkable. Audiences are always amazed."
The show includes lots of audience participation, world class Frisbee catching, big air stunts, juggling and high jumping. The dogs have been featured on "Oprah," the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno," the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," Animal Planet, and Fox Sports.
"What makes these dogs extra special is that they all have been rescued from pounds and shelters from across the country," says Rock. "The mission of Extreme Canines is to promote animal rescue and pet adoption awareness and encourage pet owners to spay and neuter their animals."
Conejo Valley Days runs from April 28 through May 2. The five-day event features carnival rides and live entertainment for kids, teens and the whole family. Entry ticket prices are $7 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5 through 12 and free for kids under 5. Bring a canned food item on Wednesday, April 28 and get $2 off the admission price. Food donations go to Manna, the Conejo Valley's food bank. Military personnel with military id get in free on Friday, April 30.
