April 2, 2010 - PRLog -- IMVU, an online community where members use 3D avatars to meet new people, chat, create and play with their friends, today announced that the company has partnered with the “Startup Lessons Learned” conference to offer eight scholarships to startup professionals who are interested in attending the show. The scholarships cover the full price of conference registration, valued at $699 for the “early-bird” registration.
A daylong event taking place on April 23, 2010 in San Francisco, “Startup Lessons Learned” will provide attendees with a practical approach for creating and managing a new breed of company that excels in low-cost experimentation, rapid iteration and true customer insight.

“At IMVU, we learned how to turn a startup into a successful business. That’s why we’re proud to be partnering with the “Startup Lessons Learned” conference to offer scholarships to eight lucky winners who are interested in taking their startups to the next level,” said Cary Rosenzweig, CEO of IMVU, Inc. “Our hope is that these scholarships will make it possible for a few people to attend the conference who wouldn’t be able to otherwise.”

Hosted by Eric Ries, Co-Founder and former CTO of IMVU, Inc, the “Startup Lessons Learned” conference will unite business practitioners and students alike to share insights from industry leaders who are embracing and successfully deploying the core principles of the Lean Startup methodology. The event will feature a mix of panels and presentations focused on the key challenges and issues that professionals need to understand in order to succeed in building a successful startup business.

Those interested in applying for a conference scholarship are encouraged to send an email to leanapplication@imvu.com describing (in 500 words or less) who they are, how they are using (or intend to use) the lean startup methodology and how the scholarship will help his or her company. The deadline for submission is midnight on Monday, April 12, 2010 and selected recipients will be notified by Friday, April 16, 2010.
