All Booked Up Author Spotlight at the Raleigh Cool Kidz Expo

All Booked Up will be hosting a series of fun, diverse and entertaining local authors in the Author Spotlight as part of The Raleigh Cool Kidz Expo which is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18 at the Raleigh Convention Center.

April 1, 2010 - PRLog -- All Booked Up will be hosting a series of fun, diverse and entertaining local authors in the Author Spotlight as part of The Raleigh Cool Kidz Expo which is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18 at the Raleigh Convention Center.  The convention is targeted at the metropolitan markets with cutting-edge style and fun. By focusing on family interests and family-friendly entertainment, our attendees can stay ahead of the curve while enjoying the experience.

Saturday, April 17th

Meet Donna Washington, a local award-winning author and storyteller.  She has written three books: “The Story of Kwanza;” “A Big Spooky House;” “A Pride of African Tales;” and has a fourth one on the way. Washington has performed at thousands of schools and libraries and numerous storytelling festivals throughout the country and offers workshops in storytelling, writing, education, and creative drama for librarians and educators. www.dlwstoryteller.com  Donna will be presenting at the Showcase Central.  Books and autographs will be available at the All Booked Up Author Spotlight.  

Meet Carol Cranes, author of fourteen books with the Sleeping Bear Press.  Carol is a historian with forty years experience in children's literature as an educational consultant, has become widely recognized by many schools and educators for her expertise in children's literature. She has conducted in-service seminars for teachers at many schools across the country. Carol also works with children as an author. Carol will be reading from one of her books which will be for sale at the spotlight, including “T is for Tarheel”, “Wright Numbers” and the brand new pre-release of “The Handkerchief Quilt.”  Learn more about Carol at:  http://www.carolcrane.org/books.html


Sunday, April 18th

Meet child authors, eleven year old, Miles Larone Rabun and his nine-year old brother, William Brooks Rabun at Showcase Central.  You won't want to miss this dynamic duo on Sunday, April 18th from 11-12 in the Cook Kidz Expo Showcase! Meet Eleanora E. Tate, an award winning children's book author, folklorist, short story writer, creative writing teacher and former newspaper reporter. She was named a 1999 Zora Neale Hurston Award winner (with Dr. John Hope Franklin), the highest award given by the National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc. Her short stories, books, and articles celebrate neighborhoods, communities, and the families who live there.  Eleanora will be reading and autographing books at the All Booked Up Author Spotlight on Sunday, April 18th from 2-3:30.  Learn more about Eleanora E.
