From 1 to 3 April, the BBC is holding a three day event at Swansea’s BBC Big Screen giving Doctor Who fans in Swansea the chance to interact directly with the show on their home ground. The event follows a national tour to introduce the new Doctor and his companion to specially selected groups of children in five locations across the UK
The Swansea roadshow lands in Castle Square on Thursday, 1 April and will run until Saturday 3 April between 11am – 4pm. This Easter weekend extravaganza will give Doctor Who fans a chance to see exclusive footage of the new show and will feature different elements of the much loved series.
To celebrate the start of the new Doctor’s adventures, the BBC Big Screen will be showing the Dr Who trailer in 3D, with 3D glasses and other giveaways being handed out. Fans can also get their photo taken tumbling through the giant vortex.
Visitors will also be able to meet some of the scariest monsters that have had viewers watching from behind their sofa for generations. And they’re in person so be prepared to exterminate!
Councillor Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: “Swansea has close links with Doctor Who and a number of Swansea locations have been featured in recent years. I’m sure people will make the most of this opportunity to catch the latest trailer on Castle Square’s Big Screen and take part in the other fun activities that form part of this roadshow.
“The programme has the ability to spark the imagination of people of all ages and millions of fans across the UK will be looking forward to the new series.
“This is another example of how the Big Screen is continually bringing cutting-edge fun and excitement to Swansea city centre.”
