Belgium Launches First Rocket Into Space

Jubilation in Brussels at spectacular space launch

April 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Belgium has become a member of the elite space club today, when it launched its first rocket into orbit around the earth.  The space mission is seen as an important step in the European Space Program's efforts to seek out extraterrestrial life. The rocket was launched from a yet, undisclosed location in the Belgian Ardennes, while thousands of enthusiastic Belgians gathered in Brussels' Grand Place to watch the event live on huge TV screens. The President of the European Union stated that it was a “stupendous achievement for such a small nation.” Countries like the USA, Russia and China are said to be following the project with keen interest.

The team of scientist behind the mission revealed that, in order to convey information about our  culture and  hopefully build rapport with any aliens, the craft has been equipped with a life size replica of the well-loved Manneken Pis statue, as well as tons of chocolates, waffles and beer. The fact that Belgium has the highest number of UFO sightings in the world, has led many observers to believe that aliens are attracted to Manneken Pis, but are just unable to get through the legions of celluloid-bonded  Japanese tourists to meet him.

There are great hopes for the mission and a spokesperson for the government said that if everything went as planned, then they intend to launch the entire country into space by the end of the year.
