DotConnectAfrica registered a maximum success in East Africa as the voice was echoed globally
DCA's presence in Nairobi in February and March 2010 as part of its campaign to raise awareness to the benefits of the ".africa" domain was a maximum success!
AITEC Africa's conference on Mobile Banking COMESA who was host to DCA reported DCA's presentation of '.africa' to be equivalent to Nakamura's vision of Uniting Africa. The East African newspaper reported " the birth of the ".africa" generation", which was heralded by the the Ethiopian Reporter and the 1% club of Nairobi. The media giant, the Daily Nation which interviewed DCA at the Media conference headlined the initiative as "search on for Africa domain" reporting "Africa will soon have its own internet domain name aimed at enhancing integration"
The MediaGlobal news praised the inititative, reporting "a new domain '.africa' helps unite the continent. The '.africa ' gTLD certainly represents a sense of unity and indicates that Africa is making significant steps towards becoming more connected to the rest of the world via information and communication technologies.
Responding to the the Media Global news, “There are many complex factors that determine the success of a TLD,” said Karla Valente, director of communications and project services with ICANN. “Speaking from a conceptual standpoint and taking into account my previous experience with TLDs, I would say .africa could be a great tool to promote the region, celebrate its cultural diversity, address the needs countries have in common, and possibly even give a united identity in instances where that makes sense, says Karla.
