Greentechsolar.com reports on the future of the solar market and according to Travis Bradford, Founder, President, and Director of Prometheus Institute for Sustainable Development, who has been with Greentechmedia from the beginning, stated that the industry has experienced a significant boom and he foresees the growth trend continuing into the future.  In the article, Mr. Bradford goes on to say that “generally prices fall 5 or 6 percent per annum” in a global solar market with growth rates of 30% per year and soon we will be seeing double digit gigawatt global production in a world market of $35 to $40 billion.

Picksthatmove.com takes a look at some of the greener companies on the market.

Sunovia Energy Technologies , focuses on engineering and distributing solar powered substrate and LED lighting technologies.  Sunovia announced that it has entered into a partnership with Fifth Third Bank where eligible customers have the option to finance the costs of purchasing and installing Sunovia’s LED products.  The savings by the customer from converting to the LED technology more then cover the entire costs of the financing.  In 2008 Sunovia launched a new subsidiary, EvoLucia Inc., which is the solid state lighting division of the company.  EvoLucia creates, patents and markets LED lighting fixtures.  Shares of SUNV are tightly trading between 0.09 and 0.092, up 1.11% to 0.091.  SUNV hit its 52 week-high last October of 0.178.

Evergreen Solar Inc. , is trading in the range of 1.13 and 1.15, up 2.70% or 0.03 cents at 1.14, rising from its 52 week-low of 1.08 from February this year.  Evergreen Solar develops and markets Strong Ribbon solar panels which use its wafer manufacturing technology.  The wafers produced by Evergreen are applied to produce solar panels which consist of wafers, cells and panels.  Evergreen announced that a five-megawatt power plant in Italy that uses Evergreen’s panels is now online.  This is marked as the largest installation of Evergreen Solar panels in the company’s history.  The project uses 24,600 Evergreen’s String Ribbon solar panels and will provide enough electricity to power approximately 2,400 homes while preventing 3,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually which is the equivalent of planting approximately 75,000 trees.  The solar power plant is funded by Enia Solaris, a joint venture of two Italian-based companies, Enia SpA and Ata Group.

Hi Score Corporation , has completed the test of its LED street lights which have been installed in the city of Pittsburgh.  Given the success of the program city officials are considering a go ahead to retrofit the entire network of 40,000 streetlights with LED technology lights and the city expects to publish its Request for Big sometime in the summer.  HSCO has also entered into an agreement with Peter A. Ruggeri as a Consulting Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Ruggeri’s experience will assist HSCO in becoming a full reporting public company.  HSCO is a supplier of LED lighting products along with Compact Florescent and Halogen Lighting under its EcoGreenBulb and REPCO Labels. Shares of HSCO are trading at 0.35, ranging between 0.32 and 0.35.
