An American Opera To Screen April 5 as Part of the Independent Film Series in New York

An American Opera will be shown at the East Meadow Public Library in New York on April 5, 2010 as part of an Independent Film Series. Producer/Director Tom McPhee will be in attendance for a meet and greet beforehand and a Q&A afterward.
 
March 30, 2010 - PRLog -- East Meadow, New York - An American Opera will be screened as a part of the World Animal Awareness Society's Rescue Party Tour at the East Meadow Public Library in New York on April 5. The screening begins at 7:30 PM in the downstairs meeting room.  Tom McPhee will be in attendance for a meet and greet beforehand and a Q&A afterwards.  This series has been made possible with public funds from the New York State Council of the Arts, a public agency.

About An American Opera - In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, America suffered the worst domestic animal crisis in its history. Tens of thousands of house pets were left to perish in neighborhoods all across the gulf. An American Opera follows the story of the Pets, Vets, Owners, Officials, Rescuers and Adopters of animals as they all work through the chaos to do what is right only to discover not everyone is working toward the same goal. The film is set against a soundtrack of mostly independent alternative rock. Film is not rated.  Recommended for ages 12 and up.

About Tom McPhee - Tom McPhee founded the World Animal Awareness Society. Tom has been an award winning producer and director of film, tv, multi-language interactive media, as well as a specialty film/media distributor.  Tom McPhee is the owner of 2 media companies, Cave Studio & Man Smiling Moving Pictures (http://www.mansmilingmovingpictures.com). He went down to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina to help provide relief to those affected.  While in NOLA Tom discovered an entire world he had no idea existed and most people never pay attention to: the world of animal rescue which led to Producing/Directing  the award-winning documentary An American Opera. Over the last 4 years, buoyed by An American Opera: The Greatest Pet Rescue Ever! Tom has organically navigated toward developing filmed content with a focus on animal/pet-centric themes.
