Interactive Agency D2 Creative Edits Video for Haiti Relief

D2 Creative volunteers editing facility and production staff to edit a fund-raising video for Young Artists for Haiti. The video showcases the talents of 10 young pianists from Russia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel, and the US.

March 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Charle Lui, a Princeton, NJ 4th grader, had seen on TV the Haiti’s devastation in Haiti caused by the recent earthquake.  Seeing the relief efforts of so many people, he asked his father what he could do to help. Charlie’s father, Mingyi, had an answer. He contacted the parents of 10 of Charles’s pianist friends from around the world to see it they would liked to contribute to a global music video to raise awareness for Haiti relief.  The young pianists, from places including Russia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel, and the US,  were excited to help, and within  a week started recording a piece they selected together: the Chopin Nocturne in C# minor. Each practiced and recorded part of the piece and wrote a short plea for continued donations to Haiti relief in their native language.

Meanwhile, faced with having to edit and shape the ten performances into one cohesive music video, Mingyi Lui turned to New Jersey interactive agency D2 Creative. D2 has experience in editing broadcast-level performance shows for television, as well as the expertise to make sense of the disparate incoming video formats and standards. John Lau, head of D2 and Appliedinfo Partners, assigned the editing tasks to Kris Kmiec and Kevin Chung. Seamlessly, Kris blended the music of the 10 musicians into a single performance with each pianist playing their part, and finished with a montage of languages, each asking for donations.

The finished video was uploaded to YouTube. The Red Cross, who was now interested in the project, created a landing page where donations could be made when viewers clicked through from YouTube.

The video has had several thousand hits and has contributed to the ongoing efforts in Haiti, all because of the dedication of 10 young musicians. D2 Creative is proud of  it’s public service initiatives, and this is another example of how the company will apply itself where it feels it can make a difference.
