The article is a brief, but concise summary of the history, technology and health benefits of Ionized Alkaline Water, which is produced by Water Ionizers, first developed in Japan in the early 1950's.

In talking about the article that he authored, Klein states, "Probably the most compelling fact in the article is that the Japanese version of the FDA, the 'Ministry of Health and Rehabilitation', certified Water Ionizers as 'Medical Devices' that contribute to improved health, way back in 1966, as a result of the data and conclusions from a special research institute, established in 1958 by the government, to study the observed benefits.  In fact, today, it is estimated that 1 in 5 homes in Japan have a Water Ionizer, and nearly every hospital, to provide the water to their patients, as an aid to healing.  And, not surprisingly, the South Korean government followed suit in certifying Water Ionizers as a medical device too; in the mid-1970s."
