Hip Hop Legends, Artists & Advocates Reach Out to Youth at the Crackdown Youth Summit

Inspiring Change and Encouraging Knowledge For Today's Youth
 
March 24, 2010 - PRLog -- San Bernardino, CA, March 24, 2010 - Chuck D, the force behind the legendary rap group Public Enemy will be the keynote speaker of the Crackdown Youth Summit on April 3, 2010, 3pm - 7pm PST.   Rialto area artist Money B from Digital Underground, anti-drug and violence advocate, Milton Creough  and actor Isaiah Washington formerly of Grey's Anatomy will be featured speakers.  Held at Cal State University San Bernardino Santos Manuel Center, the event is hosted by the Student organization EBONI (Elimination of Bias, Oppression, Negativity and Ignorance).

The focus of this years summit will include, four major issues facing youth today, drug abuse, gang violence, abstinence and higher education. Organizers have opened the event to the public and encourages families to attend.  The mission of the Crackdown Project is to encourage, empower and teach youth to believe, speak and live their visions.  The Crackdown Project's goal is to positively effect the lives of our youth by exposing them to role models, opportunities and organizations that cam help them see their dreams more clearly and through performing arts, counseling, job and employment training and mentoring, pursue those dreams with a plan for success.

The Crackdown Youth Summit will include contemporary entertainment including a skit by The Crackdown Anti Drug and Violence Theatrical Production Project.  Local artists include fifteen year old Hip Hop/Pop artist Monay who will perform and introduce her not for profit teen organization, The Monay Teen Foundation,  R&B artist Ahmed, Mime Dancers, Women of Zion and New Orleans Poet, Crescent.  

Key note speaker Chuck D, and speakers Money B, Milton Creough and Isaiah Washington will talk about the affects today's culture of music, entertainment and community empowerment has had on today's youth generation.   Public Enemy previously appeared in San Bernardino in 1990 during a Crackdown on Drugs event, then housed in the Boys and Girls Club of San Bernardino. The 1990 event filled the Orange Show Grounds, Damus Auditorium.  

The event is free to the public but donations will be accepted and are encouraged.
