According to the Calabash Consortium’s Founder and Convener, Geoff K. Cooper, the event promises to be a memorable one. "It will be an unforgettable evening where patrons will learn more about the organization, its mission and vision, and how they can get involved. This will take place in a wonderful setting, with the intent of highlighting not only some of the region’s pressing challenges but also its diverse culture - our food, entertainment, and people," noted Cooper. Over 300 guests are expected to attend “The Sailing” which will include entertainment from Ano Okera, the Meyer Levin Steel Orchestra and other cultural ensembles. Patrons will also enjoy a mix of Caribbean cuisine and liquor. During the evening, patrons will have an opportunity to win spot prizes and participate in the organization’ With a large mandate ahead, the Calabash Consortium's seeks to mobilize resources and collective action aimed at forging a healthy and productive future for Caribbean people. Proceeds from this event will provide necessary funding to implement the Calabash Caravan; a multi-island youth research and empowerment initiative commencing June 2010 in Trinidad and Tobago.
