Four College Scholarships to be Awarded to Westchester and Rockland County Students

March 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Four high school seniors will be selected from the Westchester and Rockland County area

White Plains, N.Y. – March 23, 2010 – The New Rochelle-White Plains Alumni Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation Inc., is quickly approaching the date of its annual Scholarship Brunch, which will take place on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Tarrytown House in Tarrytown, New York. The proceeds from the affair will aid the Foundation in its continuing efforts to assist the youth of Westchester and Rockland counties with their higher educational goals.

Each year, the Foundation awards college scholarships to deserving minority students. The scholarships are renewable annually for four successive years, upon meeting the Foundation’s renewal requirements, which includes maintaining a high record of academic achievement. When selecting awardees, the Foundation considers academic performance, involvement in both the school community and the community at large and the applicant’s financial need.

Bryan Williams, Polemarch (President) of the Chapter, stated, “It gives us great pleasure to serve and give back to the students of our community, which is consistent with the mission of our organization. In the past, the scholarship brunch and scholarship program have been a huge success and I am confident this year will be the best ever.”

The New Rochelle-White Plains Alumni Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization and the philanthropic component of the New Rochelle-White Plains Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. The Chapter was chartered on December 9, 1972 and serves the greater Westchester and Rockland County area.
