March 23, 2010 - PRLog -- What actually a Discus Fish is? Have you seen it before? Do you know what the species are or where its origin?

According to article from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discus_(fish). Discuss (Symphysodon spp.) are a genus of three species of cichild freshwater fishes native to the Amazon River basin.

Discus belong to the genus Symphysodon, which currently includes three species: : The common discus (Symphysodon aequifasciatus), the Heckel discus (Symphysodon discus), and a new species which has been named Symphysodon tarzoo. However, a further investigation published in August 2007 suggested that the genus held the three species: S. aequifasciatus (the green discus), S. haraldi (the blue/brown/common discus) and S. discus (the Heckel discus).

There are few types of Discus fish called locally as Blue Diamond, Red Leopard, Red Ribbon, Snakeskin, Yellow, etc.

Filtration is always the most important procedure in discus fish breeding.
As discus breed best in meat as their food, hence, the water is always very oilly and dirty everytime after you fed them.
The best time to change the water is at least 2 times per day right around one hour after you fed them. Failed to do that may results in the death of your beloved pet!
