March 22, 2010 - PRLog -- New York drivers know the drill -- they're in a hurry to get to work, racing through the streets only to get pulled over by an officer or to find a parking ticket on their car windshield. In addition, a new law that went into effect last year will penalize drivers who text while driving.  All too often, drivers in these situations are quick to pay the expensive ticket which can add extra points on their driving records and increase their insurance premiums.  New Yorkers and drivers throughout the country can now find assistance with fighting their traffic tickets through a new website called Members.TixNix.com.

“We started Members.TixNix.com to help drivers fight back against and escalating system of taxation disguised as law enforcement," says Steve Ehrenreich, CEO and Co-founder of Members.TixNix.com. The site helps drivers fight tickets and protect their driving record and license.

Since New York drivers pay some of the highest insurance premium rates in the country, fighting traffic or speeding tickets should be a top concern for drivers there according to Adam Rosenblum, an attorney who provides legal assistance through his blog on Members.Tixnix.com.  “Drivers know that if they get convicted of certain moving violations, there is a good chance their rates will skyrocket,” explains Rosenblum.

Attorneys like Rosenblum are using the site to provide updates on how current laws affect drivers.  The site features blog articles, Twitter updates, discussion forums and state-by-state information for motorists throughout the country.  Rosenblum uses the site to connect with drivers who land up hiring him to fight their traffic ticket.  He not only fights moving violations of all kinds but also provides free advice and guidance on how to best handle those violations.

Just last fall, New York state legislation made it illegal for a driver to text or use a portable electronic device while in a moving vehicle. This was an addendum to a law that made the use of a handheld mobile phone illegal.

Drivers just passing through the state of New York can also be affected by these laws. "Even out of state drivers are concerned about this problem because New York sends a record of convictions to all 46 states (and the District of Columbia) that are members of the Drivers License Compact (DLC).  This means that the potential exists for points to turn up on an out-of-state driver's license if he or she gets convicted in NY, which could lead to an increase in that driver's auto insurance rate even though they were not convicted in their home state but rather in New York,” explains Rosenblum.
