Flying High On Adrenaline
The next big challenge on the must-do wish list of life is a gravity-defying extreme sport known only as Airkix…
Just like jumping out of an aircraft, the Airkix indoor skydiving experience comes with an awesome adrenaline high. You’ll be flying in a wind tunnel up to 14ft in diameter and 39ft tall with wind speeds of up to 130mph.
Airkix is simple and safe. There’s no jumping, plunging, plummeting or hurtling – just full-on fun and if done regularly indoor skydiving can improve your core flexibility and general level of fitness. Whether it’s making extreme dreams come true, setting corporate challenges, finding the perfect gift idea, getting a group of friends together or flying with the family, the Airkix effect is one you’ll never forget.
As the wind tunnel generates speed you just lean forward onto the airflow and naturally assume a horizontal flying position, freefalling in a controlled and fun indoor environment. No previous skydiving experience is needed as an instructor will assist you every step of the way ensuring you stay in control and have an amazing time freefalling in the wind tunnel. After your Airkix flight you have the option of taking home a DVD and pictures of your freefalling adventure to share with friends and family.
Anyone from age 4 to 104 can fly. You’ll be given all the gear and a comprehensive training brief from a highly skilled International Bodyflight Association instructor. And because flying is such an addictive thing, Airkix makes it more challenging each time with different packages and the more you go the cheaper it is and the further your skills progress. If you’re ready to take your skills to the skies Airkix has its own skydiving centre, Skydive Airkix, near Peterborough (www.skydiveairkix.com)
Simon Ward, Airkix Chief Executive says: “Indoor Skydiving is one of the best things you can do whether for just learning something new and totally unusual or as something to do with friends or work colleagues. With an average satisfaction ratio of over 95%, you can see why we call it ‘The Smile Factory’; everyone leaves with a grin on their face talking at twice normal speed!”
Airkix fans include Elle McPhearson, Bear Grylls, Jo Wiley, Zoe Salmon, Linford Christie, Frankie Dettori, David Coulthard, Colin Montgomerie and Skydiving world champions. Airkix has also appeared on Blue Peter, The Gadget Show, The Apprentice, Strictly Come Dancing, Britain’s Next Top Model, National Lottery, Children in Need and Mission Implausible.
