Follow on Google News | Parenting Children With Asperger Syndrome Is Easier With The Right SupportAsperger syndrome is on the Autistic Spectrum and people often exhibit challenges in social interaction as well as restrictive and hyper-focused behavioral patterns.
By: Dave Angel March 18, 2010 - www.parentingaspergerscommunity.com was founded in March 2009, as a safe haven for those caring for children with Aspergers. Not only does the site provide multiple valuable resources, the forum itself is invaluable as people share their real life successes and failures. Children with Aspergers Syndrome usually have difficulty interacting on a social level, making life difficult, especially for young children. They can often exhibit high levels of stress when coming into contact with other people as well as an inability to conform to rules. They tend to rebel against any form of authority that attempts to draw them away from the activity they are focused on. They often have trouble developing friendships because they have a lack of empathy towards the other party. They can sometimes display inappropriate reactions in social interactions and can appear insensitive when in fact they purely do not understand other people’s emotions and cannot interpret them. The fact that they have suffered from failed friendships can often lead to them shying away from seeking out new connections, especially if the behavior was misdiagnosed and help was not provided. Other issues that people with Aspergers syndrome suffer from include an overly intense focus on a certain activity or behavior, with extremely inflexible routines. In fact they can be so fixated that they collect whole volumes of information which they then memorize. For example, a child may memorize all the models of a certain make of car without having any interest in cars whatsoever. Usually, Aspergers syndrome can be identified around the age of 5 or 6, but dealing with a child in a constructive way can be quite difficult. This is why the Parenting Aspergers Community is such a valuable tool because it provides so many resources as well as supportive community where people can share their experiences and ask for help from others in the same situation. Practical knowledge and experience is much more valuable than theory and this is what the community offers. The Parenting Aspergers Community is a tight knit community that aims to help and support each other to improve the lives of those suffering from Aspergers syndrome.
