In a deeply personal essay she shares how a prior history of emotionally abusive relationships served as the song's genesis. She also brings to light how the writing process, shared with musical partner Jason Bodden, served as a personal catharsis that many can draw inspiration from. "...the song was even more importantly about my own moving beyond years of negative conditioning re: my own musical talents and ability to contribute anything of artistic worth or value to the world around me.
