World Championship Chester the Bulldog Raring for Action

The newly chosen mascot for the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships has been unveiled to the public. The mascot was chosen by fans from all over the world. Voters were given the chance to both name the mascot and select the animal.

March 16, 2010 - PRLog -- The official mascot for the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester has been unveiled as Chester the Bulldog and he’s already making guest appearances all over the country!

Chester is the mascot for the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships that take place between the 15th and 24th of July 2010 and promise to be the biggest Championships in Lacrosse history.

Chester was voted entirely by Lacrosse fans from over the world on the 2010 World Lacrosse Championship fan page on Facebook. Voters were invited to vote on the choice of mascot animal and then voted on his name.

Two voters were chosen from random to win Season Passes to the Championships, worth £150, which allows them entry to watch all 200+ games being held at the University of Manchester’s Armitage Centre this July including the grand final.

Winner, Clare Ghey said, “Am absolutely over the moon that I've won a season ticket for the championships - thank you to the English Lacrosse Association! I will definitely be counting the days down to July now!”

A full schedule of appearances has been arranged for Chester to attend so look out for him at Lacrosse and other big events up and down the country.

English Lacrosse CEO, David Shuttleworth said, “This mascot is truly a community icon, he was chosen by the public and named by them too. We have plans to send the mascot to as many community events as possible so everyone gets to meet their favourite mascot”

The 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships take place between the 15th and 24th of July 2010 and promises to be the biggest Championships in Lacrosse history.

The championships will bring together over 30 different nations and the festival will attract 64 elite international touring sides from all over the world. In addition to this a Community event will run alongside the Championships and host local Primary, Secondary and Club teams. There will also be an official FIL Festival from 17th-24th July, for the first time in the sports history.
