March 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, California - March 16, 2010 -  Leading Los Angeles based radio host and gay activist Terry LeGrand will be reporting from the 40th Annual Los Angeles LGBT Pride Celebration and Parade, June 12th and 13th, for his popular weekly Internet talk show, THE ALTERNATIVE, on 107.3 FM.  ‘The Alternative’ can be heard every Sunday night at 6 PM on the Internet at the innovative spot for eclectic talk, LA Talk Radio (www.latalkradio.com).

Off the air, LeGrand is an accomplished physician who has transitioned into the field of addiction counseling.  He currently runs a full service program in the Los Angeles area that provides drug, alcohol and HIV/AIDS counseling, while providing housing and meals.

On the air, Dr. Terry, as he is sometimes called, interviews artists, authors, community leaders and newsmakers from the entire spectrum of the LGBT community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender).  His years as a gay and HIV activist makes him uniquely qualified to discuss the lavender lifestyle from the historical perspective.  He continues to get involved in movement organizing as the current Co-Chair of ACT UP Southern California.

According to LeGrand, “Educating listeners by presenting stories of courage, strength and humor about us as LGBT persons will empower us to become stronger and better citizens.”

The often controversial, sometimes irreverent, but always thought provoking LeGrand chooses topics for his hot talk from the issues you need to hear about, such as family and work relationships, political and legal decisions, stage and screen premieres and more.

You never know who is going to sit down with LeGrand.  One recent show featured California State and West Hollywood medical marijuana activists while the next show spotlighted the writer, director and star of a campy hit musical comedy spoof.  In addition, LeGrand promised, “Even if you’re not gay, you’ll always learn something and get lots of information about what is going on in the community.”

“It was an honor to be his guest,” said Joe Mannetti, Mr. International Daddy Bear 2009.  He added, “The hour goes by all too fast, and I know that listeners will find themselves wanting more just as I did after experiencing his wonderful style.”

During the LA Pride Celebration, LeGrand will be roaming the festival area at San Vicente Blvd. between Santa Monica Blvd. and Melrose Ave., microphone in hand, searching for a few good men, and women, to interview.  His lead question will be, “What does this years festival theme, ‘PRIDE 365: Power, Passion, Purpose.’ mean in your life.”

If you don’t have the $15 advance purchase price for the festival tickets, LeGrand will interview you on Sunday, June 13th, beginning at 11:00 AM, at the free Pride Parade on Santa Monica Blvd. between Crescent Heights and Robertson Blvd.  “400,000 of our closest friends will be gathered for the crowd-pleasing, time-honored tradition of ‘moving community creativity’…with a few drag queens and dykes on bikes thrown in for good measure,” said LeGrand.

As a previous board member of the non-profit Christopher Street West, which produces the Pride Celebration and Parade, LeGrand wants to act as witness and cheerleader to commemorate what a small group of brave community leaders did 40 years ago when they decided to mark the first anniversary of the Stonewall Riots not with a political march, but a celebratory parade.  LeGrand’s interviews and attending celebrity coverage will be edited together for the next episode of “The Alternative”, broadcast on June 20th.

You have an appointment with Dr. Terry every Sunday at “The Alternative” on LA Talk Radio.  If you have missed any shows, they are archived at LA Talk Radio, starting with the January 10, 2010 show.  The shows quickly stream to your PC or download to your MP3 player or IPOD, as well as STITCHER. Stop by www.TerryLeGrand.com to check his calendar or read his latest blog.

“To paraphrase the late Howard Zinn,” says LeGrand, “be prepared to relinquish the safety of silence, be prepared to speak up.”
