By: Fraudcon, Inc. In his talks, Mayne reveals his intimate knowledge of conmen and their methods, which will help this assemblage of financial sleuths identify, detect and stomp out fraud within their organizations. "Internal auditors must learn to recognize employee fraud indicators and discover whether the symptoms are the result of actual fraud or if they represent other factors. In situations where employee fraud has occurred, internal auditors must be prepared to persist and pursue until a confession or other convincing evidence is obtained." says Steve Albrecht, Director of the School of Accountancy at Brigham Young University. Over a decade ago, Mayne was indicted by federal prosecutors for his role in a fraud conspiracy involving four other co-conspirators. While he was a fledgling in his real estate finance career, he was recruited into a mortgage and real estate scam that resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses for one of the nation's largest mortgage banking firms. In 1999, Mayne plead guilty to mail and wire fraud and received a 21 month sentence, which was served at the Federal Prison in Yankton, South Dakota. In 2006 Mayne spoke at the 17th Annual Conference of the National Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He was the second highest rated speaker; second only to the celebrity, Ben Stein. Fred Pasteur, former President of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the ACFE said, "His message was well received by the attendees; mainly because he not only "talked the talk", but he has also "walked the walk." "I've taken what I learned from those dark times in my life and have found ways to help fight the fraud epidemic that has become such a huge problem in the business world today." says Mayne. Since his release in 2001 Mayne has devoted his life and career to the cause. He has reached over 100,000 students and business professionals with his message of the consequences of fraud and the importance of doing the right thing. # # # About Jerome Mayne: He is an international public speaker on fraud and ethics.
