Cat Kennels Applaud Cowell’s Animal Advocacy

Catteries in Switzerland gain new respect for an unlikely animal advocate.

March 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Mies, Switzerland – Cat boarding in a clean, safe cat kennel environment is nothing new to Dr. Nortey Omaboe of Cabinet Veterinaire International, but discovering that he shares something in common with Simon Cowell is.

Cowell’s reputation as a hard-hitting, verbal-punch-throwing judge on the popular talent series American Idol has been met with mixed reactions over the past near-decade.  Combine Simon’s cold-hearted persona with his brutal honesty and an occasional compliment, and you’ve got a certain flare that many viewers find utterly irresistible.

Cold Cowell seems to be slowly growing on the American viewing public.  When he announced his engagement to Mezhgan Hussainy, Americans wondered if maybe, just maybe, he was capable of love.  His growing closeness to his fellow judge, Kara DioGuardi, showed fans that he might even be capable of friendship.  When Simon announced that this would be his final American Idol season, Americans felt a noted  melancholy dismay (and surprise at how attached they’d become to him).  But all of that would soon pale in comparison to his most recent media offering.  When word got out that he was publicly labeling the infliction of pain on animals as scandalous, then for goodness sake, it must be an outrage.

Simon Cowell has joined forces with WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) to voice his disgust for the mistreatment of animals, particularly when they’re exploited for sport and entertainment: bull fighting, bear baiting, and hunting are a few examples.

Dr. N.J. Omaboe also recognizes these injustices, along with one committed against a common household pet – the cat.  When cat boarding facilities fail to take certain precautions, to accommodate the unique nature of these animals, fights ensue. Terrible eye injuries, bites and lacerations, diseases, and stress from bullying can affect cats, either directly or indirectly, for a feline lifetime.
Dr. Omaboe has been a firsthand witness to these fighting atrocities, and says, “Cats are territorial.  If two or more felines are forced to share an enclosure, or even a room, nasty fights can break out, permanently damaging these beautiful, and otherwise docile, animals.”  He also cites other reasons that cat owners should seriously consider employing the services of reputable catteries.  Medical supervision; weight checks; brushing; holding several times a day; and solitary playtime next to windows for outside viewing are just a few of the services that his cat kennels offer.  “Cats are primarily solitary animals.  When that nature isn’t respected, no one should be surprised when terrible things happen,” he adds.

There’s no doubt that Cowell would second Dr. Omaboe’s sentiments – and not only for the safety of the cats in the veterinarian’s care.  Simon has come to expect VIP treatment.  Limousines, helicopter transportation, and nose-powdering are only a few of the luxuries that he enjoys.  Dr. Omaboe understands the importance of this star management.  VIP clients get first pick of his luxury cat boarding kennels, and their referred friends enjoy that same star treatment.  But unlike Cowell’s lengthy climb to stardom, cat owners can score VIP treatment with a single phone call to Cabinet Veterinaire International.

As Simon publicly recognizes animals’ capacities for suffering, Dr. Omaboe does the same at his Swiss catteries.  He knows firsthand that a cat kennel that understands the intricacies of cat boarding offers the safest, cleanest, and most comfortable environment for our feline friends.  What would Simon say about this veterinarian’s cat kennels?  He might use one of his favorite expressions: “They’re head-and-shoulders above the rest.”
