Total Woman Gym & Day Spa Celebrates Women's History Month by Sharing The "HERstory" Of Aerobics

Did you know that aerobics was originally created to prevent coronary artery disease in astronauts in 1968 by a physician?  
Soon after, a woman named Jacki Sorenson  took the Doctor’s aerobic concept and turned it into dance aerobics - becoming the originator of Aerobic Dancing – the complete fitness program that combines the health and toning benefits of jogging with the fun of dancing (www.aerobic.org).  This all happened in 1969 when Jacki (who had a broad background in dance, including tap, ballet, modern, acrobatic, Hawaiian and jazz experience) was asked to develop a fitness television program for Air Force Wives at a base in Puerto Rico, where her husband was stationed.  She created well -choreographed sets of vigorous dance movements with aerobic exercises to vibrant music and that is how Aerobic Dancing was born (www.jackis.com).  Today Aerobic Dancing is a huge phenomenon that has greatly impacted women’s fitness worldwide.
