Energy Costs Set To Soar In Western Australia

March 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Yesterday, the Western Australia government announced across the board electricity and gas price increases, set to impact businesses and homeowners from April this year.

Electricity costs are set to rise by 7.5% in April with a further 10% in July 2010 - gas cost will rise by 7% in the same period.

Tim Wolfenden, CEO of Make It Cheaper, Australia’s first dedicated price comparison and switching service for businesses comments:  "This round of price hikes will add $379 to a typical small businesses electricity bill.  Whilst that may not seem like a lot, it will feel like yet another cost increase that a business owner has to bear.

Whilst businesses across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland have a choice of suppliers and are able to switch to a cheaper deal, those customers in WA are not.  This leaves businesses with only one choice and that is to look at ways they can become more energy efficient, and try and cut down on their energy usage."
