March 3, 2010 - PRLog -- When turning the dream of living in a log home into a reality, it helps to convey exactly what you want to your builder and log home manufacturer. Scrapbooks, photos and floor plans certainly help. But home buyers Connie and Fred Woolard took it to the next level for a 2,380-square feet log home in Fleetwood, NC. To show exactly how she wanted their dream home positioned on their land, Connie Woolard created a miniature three dimensional model of their home and brought it to the job site.

“They were some of the most prepared clients we’ve ever had,” recalls Nicole Robinson, vice president of Log Homes of America (Banner Elk, NC) and a longtime member of The Log Homes Council. Nicole’s company crafted the log home package and constructed the Woolards’ new home.

The Woolards new home is being featured at www.loghomes.org, the website established by the Log Homes Council. The home is also featured in a magazine, Cozy Cabins: The Ultimate Cabin Guide, on newsstands March 8th, 2010.

The two-bedroom, two-and-a-half baths home is made from eastern white pine logs with a hand-hewn finish on the exterior and a V-groove smooth finish on the interior. The main level includes the great room, dining room, kitchen, bath, master bedroom and a study/music room. Upstairs is a loft, bedroom and bath. The home’s 36-by-40-footprint required larger beams and extra tie beams to accommodate the width of the design.

“Connie and Fred did such a great job on anticipating everything in their design, there were very few changes during construction. Their new home was really well thought out,” says Nicole with Log Homes of America.

Members of the Log Homes Council routinely make dream homes a reality for homebuyers like the Woolards. The council is also an association of the most reputable log home companies in the United States, Canada and beyond.

While hundreds of companies offer log and timber homes, less than 60 qualify for membership in the Log Homes Council. What sets these companies apart? They offer peace of mind to consumers. Membership requirements offer safeguards, including:

• Abiding by a strict code of ethics
• Grading their logs and timbers by third party agencies to ensure quality
• Providing construction manuals to ensure homes are built to meet building codes
• Contributing to scientific studies that advance log building technologies
• Offering FREE information to consumers

“This means when you buy from an LHC member, it guarantees you are getting the quality materials that will stand the test of time,” says Jim Murphy, chairman of the Log Homes Council, and a log home manufacturer from Mauston, WI. Much of the LHC’s knowledge is on display on the association’s website, www.loghomes.org.
