Canon EOS 550D Arriving Soon At Just Canon

March 1, 2010 - PRLog -- The EOS 550D redefines the boundaries of Canon’s consumer DSLR range, incorporating technologies and features more commonly found in semi-professional DSLRs into the compact, lightweight body favored by consumers.

With a newly-developed 18 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, coupled with Canon’s advanced DIGIC 4 image processor photography enthusiasts are empowered to explore new levels of creativity.  It has a non-crippled full HD movie mode (1920 x 1080 at 24, 25 and 30 fps, 720P at 60/50 fps, manual controls and external microphone socket) with upgraded metering.

The 550D inherits the 450D and 500D's body and construction, and other than the surface finish and minor tweaks to the casing, it stays essentially the same. It's primarily made from three materials; a stainless steel chassis, the mirror box which is made of high-strength 'engineering plastic' and the body made of a special lightweight polycarbonate resin with glass fiber, which also provides some electromagnetic shielding. Construction is very good with no creaks or rattles.

The EOS 550D has been designed to satisfy the most demanding photography enthusiasts and the UK prices start from £769.95 for the body only option.
