March 1, 2010 - PRLog -- The Soil Association’s next Organic Market Report is to be launched on Monday 12 April at Natural and Organic Products Europe; taking place at Olympia, London.  In a first for the show – the UK’s only dedicated trade event for natural and organic products, the Soil Association’s Policy Director, Peter Melchett, will present the trends from 2009 and cover motivations and attitudes of a post-recession consumer.  The 90-minute session will be held from 11.30am in the show’s Keynote Theatre.

Recognised as the definitive report on the state of the UK’s organic market, the choice of launch venue serves to highlight the growing stature of the show within the organic industry itself.  Natural & Organic Products Europe’s Event Director, Simon Barry, delighted with the news from the Soil Association, said: “This is a key document and media event, which sets the scene for the future progress of the organic market.  It creates a great opportunity for natural and organic professionals to hear firsthand the latest market insights, data and trends for the year ahead.”

Show organisers, Diversified Business Communications UK Ltd, have also announced that Food Inc. – one of the most hotly anticipated movies of the year is to get a special trade-only screening at this year’s Natural and Organic Products Europe.  To ensure visitors and exhibitors can still enjoy a full day on the show floor, the Oscar-nominated documentary will be shown before the show officially opens on Monday 12 April at 8.30am in Olympia’s Pillar Room.

Co-produced by Fast Food Nation author, Eric Schlosser, Food Inc. shines an unflattering light on a side of the food industry that often gets hidden from consumers, exposing the way America’s food supply is controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health.

Commenting on the planned screening, Simon Barry, Event Director of Natural and Organic Products Europe, said: “Food Inc. deals with issues that have long been major concerns for the natural and organic industry.  Screening it at Olympia not only gives people in our industry a convenient opportunity to see the movie themselves, it also sends out a message about the values at the heart of the natural and organic sector.”

In total, over 500 companies are expected to take part in Natural & Organic Products Europe 2010; including The Organic Trade Board (The OTB) who will be taking a stand for the first year since it formed as the voice of the organic industry in July 2007.  The show annually attracts trade buyers from across the world in their thousands, and over 8,000 attendees walked the aisles of Olympia last year alone.

Returning show highlights include the Soil Association Organic Marketplace, Vegetarian Village, Fairtrade Trail, the Natural Beauty & Spa Pavilion and Theatre, which has grown to encompass over 100 exhibitors, the New Product Showcase – launch pad of many of today’s most successful products, plus the Organic Kitchen, sponsored by biodynamic meat specialists Heritage Prime, which features leading chefs, including Gillian McKeith and vegetarian guru Rose Elliot MBE, demonstrating their own unique approaches to promoting and serving organic cuisine. The Organic Kitchen line-up and full multi-theatre seminar programme is available to view online on the show's website www.naturalproducts.co.uk).

Natural & Organic Products Europe is free to attend for pre-registered trade visitors. For more information, please visit the show’s website (www.naturalproducts.co.uk).
