Celebrity Snapper, Mary McCartney shoots new Speedo Shapeline Swimsuit With Real Women
Shapeline swimwear is designed to accommodate and complement the individual body shapes of women, which is why the Shapeline promotional campaign photographed by Mary McCartney features three ‘real women’ .
Speedo, the world’s leading swimwear brand, works with highly esteemed photographer Mary McCartney on the launch of its new Shapeline, body shaping swimwear collection.
Shapeline swimwear is designed to accommodate and complement the individual body shapes of women, which is why the Shapeline promotional campaign photographed by Mary McCartney features three ‘real women’ selected from a panel of over 200 female consumers that were instrumental in helping to develop the range. Joy Parkes, Tonia Brundell and Susan Crighton were selected for their personal style and individual body shapes.
McCartney was selected for her empathy for the subject matter and photographic style, which lies in finding an image that gives us new insight on a subject, and this is clearly reflected within the Shapeline campaign as it celebrates the body shapes of women of all ages.
The figures of the three real women symbolise the main body shapes Speedo identified in their hi-tech body scanning research on 5,400 women: These shapes are:
Bottom Hourglass (Joy Parkes), Hourglass (Tonia Brundell) and Top Hourglass (Susan
Crighton). These shapes make up the body shapes of 95% of women, according to the
ground-breaking research undertaken by Speedo for the Shapeline project.
Mary McCartney (b.1969, London) began her professional photography career in 1992
and her work spans the worlds of portrait and fashion photography. Her assignments have
led to her work appearing in publications including Harpers Bazaar and Interview
Magazine as well as ad campaigns for brands such as Gossard, Stella McCartney,
Aga, Bucherer and Mandarin Oriental. Mary’s extensive fashion experience combined with her highly famed portraiture work (Mary was commissioned to take the first pictures of Tony and Cherie Blair with their newborn son, Leo in 2000) – made her the perfect choice to shoot
Speedo’s Shapeline campaign.
