SACHIKA SHOWCASES AT THE MINDS MATTER OF NEW YORK NINTH ANNUAL SPRING SOIREE

New York (February 18, 2010)— Minds Matter of New York City announces its Ninth Annual Spring Soiree on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at M2 Ultra Lounge.  Guests will celebrate the substantial amount of volunteer work done by Minds Matter Volunteers with an evening of dancing and entertainment. The Soiree is the organization’s largest annual fundraising event and will feature an exclusive Fashion Show displaying the new looks of sensational designer duo SACHIKA, live music, and silent auction at the trendy Chelsea club.  In 2009, the Soiree raised over $150,000 with over one thousand gala attendees.

All proceeds from Spring Soiree ticket sales will support Minds Matter’s educational outreach initiatives. Minds Matter’s mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. The cornerstone of the unique program is our two to four-hour long weekly sessions during the school year, held on Saturdays, where mentees and volunteer mentors work to select summer programs and/or colleges and universities, prepare applications, create personal statements and essays, request letters of recommendation and complete financial aid paperwork. In addition, mentees receive standardized test preparation for the PSAT, SAT and ACT tests through Minds Matter’s Test Prep Program as well as Writing and Critical Thinking instruction.  With the guidance of Minds Matter’s well-educated volunteers, 100% of mentees successfully gain admission into competitive summer programs, colleges and universities.

More than 1300 guests are expected to attend the gala, which will begin with a VIP champagne & strawberries reception from 6:30-7:30 p.m.  This year’s event will also include a silent auction hosted by Helping Hand Group and a fashion show featuring pieces by SACHIKA.
