It is alleged that the diverseness of the Afghan people which generates Afghanistan its musical refinement and heritage. The nation of Afghanistan has around 20 cultural groups with assorted languages and culture. The ethnic groups that make Afghanistan include; Pashtun, Tajik, Hazara, Uzbek, Turkmen, Aimaq, Arab, Kirghiz, Wakhi, Farsiwan, Nuristani, Baluch, Brahui, Qizilbash, Kabuli, Jat and non-Muslims.
This variety has been helpful in adding the music to the platform to which Afghan songs and music stand now. For example, the Pashtuns of Afghan has been traditionally affiliated with music that does melodious deeds at sacred and social events.
The music in Afghan has also been influenced by the neighboring states primarily Pakistan. The Pashto music has been classed in four diverse families mainly; Classical, Rubab, Dombura and Afghan pop music.
