March 15, 2010 - PRLog -- APSI and the Mike Minter Workforce Development Program has launched a new customer service initiative to prepare dislocated and underemployed individuals for occupations that deal with customer, client and co-worker communications.

The new Customer Service Specialist Certification credential is designed to help those men and women who strive to serve others, internally and external to their organization which is the highest level of service.  The service sector is one of the fastest growing segments of today's business environment.  The Customer Service/Support and Sales occupations are also listed on the Department of Labor's Occupations-In-Demand list.

“This course is the program that I have been working extremely hard to get approved for students throughout the Carolina's,” said Scott A. Coulter, Chairman/CEO of APSI.  “Professional communication is becoming a lost art with the increase of electronic devices. Companies are beginning to  put a premium on the ability to communicate in a professional manner.  No matter if you are serving clients in a Call Center or assisting a customer in a Retail store, this course will help you be successful.”   In fact, many companies are now making it mandatory for staff members to receive formal customer service training before being promoted or advanced to other career fields within the organization.

The program goes beyond the nationally recognized certification.  Individuals in the CSS certification course will receive 40-hours of instructor led curriculum with daily quiz and work study guides.  “Anyone who knows me knows that I will support those efforts that will get the community residents into programs that will serve them as a catalyst to long and productive careers,” said Mike Minter, former Carolina Panthers star and partner in the Mike Minter Workforce Development Program.  “Through employment skills training and business mentoring, the graduates will be given the opportunity to obtain sustainable jobs…and that’s a worthwhile effort.”
