By: PUNCH Media for DIVE Based in Philadelphia, DIVE (www.divevisual.com) "I had yet another positive experience working with the folks over at DIVE,” says Argott. “Whether with Bob Schachner for the audio mix or Rob Giglio for the color correction, I always feel like I'm working with true collaborators, not just button pushers. That's why I'll keep coming back." The documentary, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and screened at the New York Film Festival in September, utilizes interviews and archival footage to explore the question of how art is best served through the story of the Dr. Albert C. Barnes collection. “The film’s creative challenge was to cohesively mesh Hi-Definition footage, 60-year-old home movies, graphics, stills and standard definition archival footage into an exciting yet serious story,” says DIVE’s colorist Rob Giglio. Diving into the project with enthusiasm for the subject and collection, Giglio blended the footage and interviews seamlessly, contrasting the stoic nature of Dr. Barnes and his legacy with the light hearted feeling of his personal home movies, never before seen by the public. “The Art of the Steal” was picked up by IFC Films under the Sundance Selects banner, and will release in theaters on Friday, February 26 beginning in Philadelphia at the Ritz 5 as well as in New York. The film will be available On Demand on February 24, 2010.
