Follow on Google News | Quilt Transformation: Obsolete Draperies Upcycled Into Patchwork ProductsQuilt Artist takes obsolete drapery materials and transforms them into exquisite new work including pillows, a rug, a tote bag and a snuggie.
By: louise Silk for SilkQuilt “It was a nice challenge for me. I saw prints that were part of the new color scheme that could be repeated with the contrasting out-of-sync fabric to make it work. Wendy had lots of circle elements repeating in her wall art, her rugs and even her lampshades. I used a traditional the drunkard’s path pattern that also has a circle element as another way to coordinate everything. There was so much material that we were able to make a rug, pillows, a tote bag and even a unique one-of-a-kind ‘snuggie’.” “I am getting so much joy from all of the pieces that Louise made for me. I have never seen sewing of Louise’s quality. She does exquisite work. She took my ideas and perfectly and beautifully made them a reality. I look forward to collaborating with her again.” # # # Located in Pittsburgh, PA, Louise Silk of SilkQuilt produces custom quilts for agencies, families, and individuals that celebrate the love and healing capacity of spirit.
