Feb. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- As part of its cost saving proposals the Highland Council are considering banning the use of colour inkjet cartridges, insisting that Councilors replace only the black cartridge. Other proposals include not providing meals during shorter meetings, car sharing and the greater use of public transport.

The current cost of a cooked lunch on main committee days is £8.20 per head and on other meeting days when a light lunch is provided the cost is £5.20 per head. Under a nationally agreed allowance scheme members are entitled to claim a maximum of £12 in expenses for lunch if a meal is not provided by the council

Of course, this does not take into account the fact that many printers will not print in black if the colour cartridge is empty!
