Feb. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- SACRAMENTO, CA - With the shift in economy many school districts and local businesses are being forced to limit their support of performing arts programs. Organizers of the Dream Big Showcase & Dance Scholarship Competition aim to restore support of youth and young adult performing arts programs, while encouraging academic excellence.

This show-stopping weekend will be hosted by KCRA Channel 3’s Adrienne Bankert, with live music DJ Tosh from the new Hot 103.5. The event includes major performances by some of the hottest dance studios and competitive dance teams in the region. Check out International Award winning Dance troupes from Studio T Urban Dance Academy, Capitol Roots, California State University Sacramento, Los Rios Community Colleges, Tricks, Xposed, Funky Fresh, and many more.

It all goes down Friday, March 5th and Saturday, March 6th 2010 at the C.K. McClatchy High School Auditorium/Theater, 3066 Freeport Blvd. in Sacramento.

The two major showcases are spread out over the weekend of March 5th and 6th with a cutting edge Urban Dance workshop for youth and adults on the morning of March 6th. Dancers will learn from hometown choreographers as well as talents from Southern California, the Bay Area, and as far away as Japan. Every dancer is guaranteed to walk away with the joy of experiencing the dance weekend of a life time. Participants in the Dream Big Workshop will also be competing for a chance to win a Dream Big Dance Scholarship for FREE dance training for a whole year. Dancers will learn styles like Hip Hop, Old School Poppin’/Lockin’, Modern, Break Dance, Trickin’, Jazz, Jerkin’, and so much more.
