Michigan College Student Takes Card Play to the Extreme

Feb. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Morley, Michigan.   Bret Feaster, a graduate of Ferris State in Big Rapids, Michigan has introduced a new extreme to college students that may not result in the doctor visits and emergency medical treatment that some other extreme endeavors invite.  "I call it extreme card-playing." Bret said from his home in Morley, Michigan.  "My dad and I cooked up the idea.  It's called 8Suits because that's exactly what it is.  8 suits instead of the usual 4."
   The new deck features the traditional suits like hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds plus 4 new suits that include stars, moons, tears and shamrocks.  "I'm from Michigan." Feaster said.  "Card games like Euchre are huge here in Michigan, and in college we played long and late.  And now, well you can play it with 8 players and it gets a little intense with that many people at the table at the same time."
   Bret's father Brian who helped Bret develop and produce the new deck agrees.  "Euchre is popular with every age group in many parts of the U.S. and around the world for that matter.  The only limitation was that it was always a 4 player game.  Now everyone can get in the act."
   The father son team has actually formed a company called BrienmarK Products and developed their own website http://www.8suits.com where the new deck can be purchased.  As well members can blog, submit to share their own custom rules, and post tournaments on a public calendar.
   "We're starting to experiment with other games.  There a lot of possibilities with 8 suits, although my dad starts to get a little tired after about 1:00 a.m. so I'm spending most of my time developing new games with my friends."  Bret said.
   The elder Feaster was not discouraged.  "Hey, the more young people play with this deck the more they can see the potential.  Although 8 Suits is not for the simple minded.  It's for the person who wants to push the envelope on card playing.  Personally I'm trying to find some variations that wrap up around 9 in the evening and an 8 player Euchre game can work that way very easily."
