Feb. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- PROVO, UT --- Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and former U.S. Attorney for the District of Utah Brett Tolman understand the devastating effects of drug abuse on our society.  Both will speak at the ribbon cutting ceremony for New Roads Treatment Center, Utah’s premiere full-service drug treatment center newly opened in Provo.

“Mark Shurtleff and Brett Tolman have both seen the terrible impacts drug crimes have had on our community,” said New Roads CEO Eric Schmidt.  “We’re excited to show them our facility that is poised to become the preferred drug treatment choice in Utah.”

According to the Utah State Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, prescription drug abuse has grown by nearly 70% in the past three years.  Public drug treatment options have massive waiting lists, and can only serve less than 20% of the current need in Utah.

“New Roads was conceived by a group of businessmen whose family members have been impacted by drug abuse.  They wanted to provide an affordable treatment option that is mission-driven, not money-driven,” said Schmidt.  New Roads offers detox, residential treatment, transitional housing and outpatient services.

About New Roads Treatment Centers

The vision of the New Roads Treatment Centers was conceived by a group of Utah businessmen- all of whom had seen first-hand the ravages of addiction upon their loved ones. Together, they resolved to help similarly afflicted families by creating affordable and effective treatment centers for young adults.  They approached New Roads’ current CEO, who was at the time the director of Odyssey House in Salt Lake City.  They asked Schmidt’s help in developing a program. The result was New Roads: a group of programs dedicated to utilizing therapeutic culture, science-based treatment, and simple caring to help young adults recover from addiction and emotional pain. By offering young adults and their families a developmentally specific model of treatment, we are stepping out of the box and committing to success through acceptance and understanding of who they are.

VISION: It is our vision, at New Roads Treatment Centers, to emerge as an industry leader and an employer of choice. We shall achieve this vision by creating a culture at New Roads that shall be nurturing, where growth and the achievement of excellence is fostered for clients and staff.

MISSION: At New Roads Treatment Centers we foster the development of responsible, self-sufficient, contributing, and happy young adults by providing unique, caring, effective, and affordable treatment, through which participants embark upon new healthy roads of life.
