Teaching Industry Shows Growth, Despite Economic Hardships

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the teaching industry will continue to see growth for the next 7 years. The growth has been projected at 12%, which equates to 479,000 new jobs between 2006-2016.

Feb. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- The Education industry is the second largest industry in the US and accounted for nearly 13.5 million jobs in 2008.  Teachers account for 47% of all workers in the industry.  Internet searches have been increasing for Teaching and Education programs, as seen on Emagister.net, one of the leading resources for individuals looking to begin or continue their education.

This growth can be directly attributed to the increase in federal funding for education.  One of the main impacts is the hiring of teachers in low-income areas.  Additionally, the implementation of Charter Schools, which usually are run by teachers and parents or, increasingly, by private firms, have been used to stimulate innovation in the public education system.

Nearly 65% of employees in the Teaching and Education Industry have at least a bachelor's degree, as a bachelor’s degree is required for most jobs in the industry. Many professional occupations also require a graduate degree or doctorate degree, particularly for jobs at colleges and universities or in administration.

Kindergarten, elementary, middle, and secondary school teachers in public schools must have a bachelor's degree and complete an approved teacher training program, with a specific number of subject and education credits, as well as supervised practice teaching.  Students must take a state-wide licensing examination to receive their Teaching license.
There are many different programs that offer degrees at varying levels.  Subject Specific Education, Education Administration, and Special Education are among the fastest growing and most requested programs.  Online programs and distance learning through centers such as Kendall College, Western Governors University, and Marygrove College allow you to continue working in your field, while pursuing your degree.

Emagister.net was launched in the US in 2009 as an education resource for individuals looking to better themselves through education.  Run by experts in the Education Industry, Emagister is currently serving 11 countries with 3 more planned launches in the first quarter of 2010.  Emagister is well on its way to becoming the World’s Education Pathfinder.
