Feb. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Make money selling Mp3 Players.

Mp3 players are a hot trend right now, they are becoming multi-functional, and many can play mp3s, videos, the radio, record voice, view files and even play games.  The opportunity to make money with mp3 players exists in the generic market; the generic market sells at a significant discount to brand name products like Apple and Zune.  With the current state of the economy people are looking for ways to save a buck while still having access to cutting edge electronics, you simply create a business around the demand for mp3 players and the desire for people to save money.  Below we will share with you a few examples on how you can start your business, what products you should begin, where to buy them and how to effectively market them.

Example Products
For our example products we will share with you two of the most popular generic versions of brand name products.  The first is the Apple iPod Shuffle which retails in stores for around $50-75 depending upon style and memory.  Many companies abroad have used the iPod Shuffle as template on how their mp3 players should look, feel and function and have come out with some high quality generic versions of the iPod shuffle.  These generic versions can be purchased for around $10-15 with shipping included.  The second example we will share with you is the iRiver Mickey Mouse Mp3 player which retails in stores for around $99, this mp3 player is a hit with women and children.  Again importers from abroad have made a generic version of this brand name product with the same look, feel and function, but for a fraction of the price which is again $10-15.

Wholesalers
We tend to think that anyone new into any business should stick with what they know, with what is familiar to them.  For this reason we don’t suggest buying from an importer, a wholesaler or some Chinese trading website.  We suggest that you start on large trustworthy websites like eBay.com and Amazon.com.  The prices we quoted above came from our average cost per product on eBay.  We suggest that you only buy one product from a variety of sellers at first, this way you can get an idea of how the seller operates, what quality the products are, often on eBay sellers will not use actual images of their products, if they are selling generic Shuffles, they will picture an actual Shuffle, which may be ok if the product looks exactly the same, but often many sellers products do not look identical.  The only real way to know what you are getting is to purchase one as a test and when you find a seller and product you like; simply stick with them.

Mp3 Market
Just about everyone has or needs an mp3 player, maybe they want an upgrade, maybe theirs broke, there are a million reasons people will buy an mp3 player from you.  The main reason will be price and functionality.  Say you wanted to make $10 per product that you sold, if you market your generic Mickey Mouse Mp3 player up $10, you would sell it for $25, which is still a 75% discount.  Think about it, how many people would be excited to save nearly 75% and get a nearly identical product.  Since people love discounts and cool new gadgets you should have plenty of people in your local market interested in buying products from you.

Marketing your Mp3 players
Marketing is the life blood of any business; those who fail to market effectively are doomed to fail in the business world.  You can not be a secret-agent salesman and expect to be successful; you need to have you and your message in front of people 24/7.  The most effective place to market online to through classifieds such as Craigslist, Backpage, Kijiji and Oodle;  just to name a few.  You should also consider trying local community boards, yard signs, bulk mailings and even your local paper.  Sometimes papers let you list individual items for sale for free or for discounted rates, this may be a great way to test the papers effectiveness in marketing your product.

Making Money
Some people get confused about what it is to start a business or to begin creating an additional income, many think they need some massive investment capital, a storefront or some unique set of skills, but the reality is all you need is a product that is in demand and the willingness to sell it to the people who want it.  Every business starts off small, each has its first sale, its first small profit, it is small businesses that turn into larger businesses.  It is small profits that turn into larger profits.  Your short term goal should not be to quit your job, rather it should be to make a part time income, imagine if you made an extra $40 per day, that’s $1200 at the end of the month.  Your goals should simply be to sell one product per day, then two, then three and so on.  Eventually you can begin to offer other products and services, but at first just be happy with small successes.
