Pittsburgh’s Golden Age of Radio Highlighted

Old photographs showcase Pittsburgh’s radio stations and personalities

Feb. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Pittsburgh is the birthplace of radio, the location of many of radio's first and most influential stations and broadcast personalities, and a key market for the development of new formats.

In a new book by Arcadia Publishing, radio broadcaster Ed Salamon uses over 200 vintage photographs to detail the past of Pittsburgh’s treasured radio history.

Of the book, Salamon says “I appreciate the opportunity to document and preserve the significant accomplishments of my fellow Pittsburgh broadcasters, while providing radio listeners with a souvenir of their days growing up with radio.”

Highlights of Pittsburgh’s Golden Age of Radio:
•Features never before seen vintage photographs and memories from those who worked in Pittsburgh radio and the archives of radio stations
•Contains historical photos of Pittsburgh’s favorite deejays including Jack Bogut, Rege Cordic, Clark Race and Porky Chedwick
•Provides information from extinct radio stations (like 13-Q, WPEZ, WTAE and WAMO) and current stations (like WDVE, KDKA and WWSW)
•Showcases behind the scene stories previously known only to those in the industry
