Young Chefs at The Leela Kempinski Mumbai that do us proud

Five budding chefs of The Leela Kempinski Mumbai have won the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in various categories at the Great Indian Culinary Challenge 2010 held by The Express Group between 21st – 23rd January at MMRDA, Bandra Kurla Complex.

Feb. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Five budding chefs of  The Leela Kempinski Mumbai  have won the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in various categories at the Great Indian Culinary Challenge 2010 held by The Express Group between 21st – 23rd January at MMRDA, Bandra Kurla Complex.
General Manager, Biswajit Chakraborty expressed “we are delighted to have won these prestigious culinary awards. I believe success is not how much you do, but how much love you put in the doing." Executive Chef Christopher Stephens said “my dynamic chefs have proved to be the best at such a young age. The spirit of constant endeavour to deliver the best to our guests has motivated us to achieve this success.” Emerging winners from among prominent participants like J W Marriott, ITC Maratha and Trident Oberoi adds value to the award.
Each of these chefs were given a particular category ranging from Plated Appetisers to Individual Hot Cooking. Chef Harish, Junior Sous Chef and Chef Dhiraj, Demi Chef de partie secured Gold Medals in the Individual Hot Cooking category, Chef Devashish, Kitchen Executive secured the only Silver medal under the Plated Main Course category and Chef Avinash and Chef Ashish secured the Bronze Medal under the Plated Appetisers and the Apprentice Student category.
The Great India Culinary Challenge (GICC) is the national challenge for Indian cuisiniers, being established on international competition lines. The event is being held alongside Hospitality World – India’s Leading Hospitality Tradeshow Brand. The event is endorsed and supported by the industry's apex and premier association of chefs - IFCA (Indian Federation of Culinary Associations), WICA (Western India Culinary Association) and WACS (World Association of Chefs Society).
