Jyotsna Colony Association: Republic Day Celebrations held

Feb. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Grand celebrations to mark the 61st Republic Day of the country were held at the Jyotsna Park at 8-30 a.m. on Tuesday, 26th January 2010, with flag hoisting, patriotic songs, speeches, quiz competition and prize distribution.

The Event started with Mr. V. Balasundaram, President of the Colony, hoisting the flag.  In his address to the gathering, he highlighted the need for voting and voting carefully, in view of the general deterioration in values.  He had two suggestions to the people in the context of voting:  One, making a decision based on one’s own vigil over the actual activities of the parties, and not guided by what the parties say during the election period.  Second, fighting against the psychology of wanting to vote for the winner.  The people should vote for the party with the best credentials, even if that party is not likely to win that particular election.  That would mean giving a ray of hope to the right party and therefore a ray of hope to the people themselves and to the Motherland. He then exhorted the children to be vigilant, righteous and religious.  With that, the future of India would be safe in their hands.

The President’s address was followed by patriotic songs and speeches by the children from Jyotsna.  There was also a very interesting quiz competition, conducted by Mr. Anantharamakrishnan.  The quiz competition made the participants realize the greatness of India and its glorious past.

Prizes were then distributed by Mrs. Pramila Raman, Vice President of Jyotsna, to all the winners of Essay Writing, Tennikoit, Carroms, Chess, Colouring, Drawing and Music competitions.

High tea was served to all the participants.  The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Gnanaprakasam, Joint Secretary.

Jyotsna Colony Association is a registered Association formed by all the owners and residents of the posh colony Jyotsna in Velachery, that is home to about 150 elite families. Jyotsna is a sprawling complex built by Alacrity, near Vijayanagar.
