Feb. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Teens Share Their Summer Camp Experience

Taking a novel approach to the annual event, Camp Shining Stars believes the best way for families to learn about the success of their summer weight loss experience is directly from the teens and parents that have reaped the benefits. The campers who have volunteered to participate will answer questions about the private dormitory housing at Barton College in Wilson, NC, which is where Camp Shining Stars is held. They will be available to share their experiences with independent camp activities and dining options.

Private Weight Loss Experience

Stressing accountability in everyday life, Camp Shining Stars is the only weight loss camp that allows teens to select their own activities. Believing that a strong community provides the nurturing environment necessary for long term weight control, camp enrollment is limited to 100 campers to preserve the close-knit relationships campers have with each other and with counselors. “Our small camp size makes it possible for us to help teens select healthier choices for their future. I know everyone’s name and develop relationships with their parents by the end of summer. That’s why we’re able to guarantee that campers will lose 7% of their total body weight by the end of the six-week session,” said Ira Green, Camp Director. “The campers who volunteered to host our booth this weekend are excited to share their adventures and success with other teens.”

Camp Shining Stars is the only non-profit teen weight loss summer camp in North Carolina. The camp fair is free and open to the public; it will be held from 12:00PM to 4:00PM at St. Mary’s School at 900 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh on Sunday, February 21, 2010.
