Feb. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Nostalgia, glamour, comedy, spectacle and—above all—the tease! This and more will take the stage during the first ever Colorado Burlesque Festival, set for July 8-11 in Denver, Colorado. A central hub of the neo-burlesque movement in the U.S., there are three troupes in Colorado as well as several nationally and internationally known performers. The almost forgotten performing art of burlesque, which has its roots in vaudeville, saw resurgence in interest in the early 1990s as a new generation of performers built upon the works of vintage stars such as Lili St. Cyr, Blaze Starr and Sally Rand. The art form has taken hold and spread like wildfire.

“We have an incredible amount of talent here in Colorado,” said Lola Spitfire, co-producer of the Colorado Burlesque Festival and founder of the Colorado Springs-based Peaks and Pasties troupe. “Burlesque, boylesque, variety and vaudeville—no one has seen a show like this!” Three nights of nationally known headliners and performers will show across three venues. Events include a VIP night, main event and brunch.

The Festival is in the planning stages; headliners, further venue information and call for performer submissions will be announced shortly. For more information, contact Lola Spitfire at lola@lolaspitfire.com or visit the Festival website at www.coloradoburlesquefestival.com.
